Animation is amazing and has effected each and everyone one of us at some point in our lives, whether you are an animation junkie (like me) or you’re not so into them (which is crazy!), no one is ever to old for a good animation and of course a great story.

From the beginning humans have always found a time, place and need to create, from cave paintings to drawing in the dirt. We have come a long way since then but it is amazing what we are capable of and what is achievable with knowledge and technology. We have many people to thank for the knowledge we have today about human and animal anatomy, how creatures move and of course how to animate.

Animation is much more then simply copying exactly how a creature moves or talks, as often it turns out far too robotic that way, animation involves a lot more imagination for it to be good. For example, Chuck Jones, a genius man behind the pencil who created beloved characters for ‘Looney Tunes’, showed us what animation can do and how far it can stretch with techniques such as Wile E. Coyote’s head staying in the air when he falls off a cliff with his neck stretched to the max. And the technique of blurring an image when a character is moving quickly, instead of having to draw the characters in-between movements, brilliant!

Of course I need to mention Disney’s Nine Old Men who are the spine of animation, they created some of the first and best full length animated films such as ‘Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs’, ‘The Rescuers’ and so on. These guys didn’t have fancy equipment and computers, they drew thousands of images step by step to create the films we all know and love.

Though I have mostly been talking about hand drawn animation, these talented people who started animation with just pencil to paper have shaped and grown animation for all styles for 3D, Stop-Motion and of course 2D.

2D Animations:

2D animation is by far my favourite type of animating, and being able to bring a character to life through drawing is breathtaking. Any way that you can draw on a surface and animate it is classed as 2D, such as white board animations. There are also many options on how to animate in 2D now a days thanks to technology, one way is hand drawing straight into a computer by using a graphic tablet.

Classic hand drawn pen to paper animations include Disney’s ‘Dumbo’, Hayao Miyazaki’s ‘Spirited Away’, and so on.

3D Animations:

Also known as CGI animations (Computer-generated imagery), is growing immensely popular as almost every animated film coming out is CGI animated. This does not mean that the computer does all the work, oh no, animators work and work on characters that are in a 3D animating program, clicking there mice away, then after hours of rendering, beautiful masterpieces are created such as Disney Pixar’s ‘Brave’, ‘Finding Nemo’ and Dreamworks ‘Rise of the Guardians.’

Stop-Motion:

Stop-Motion is a very creative and fun, yet time consuming (as are all types of animating), way to animate. Stop-motion varies from Claymation such as ‘Wallace and Gromit’, to paper animation such as ‘The Adventures of Prince Achmed’ created by Lotte Reiniger, to anything you can move from place to place while taking images of the process.

Just the other day I read through our blog post, ‘Stop Motion Animation and Ideas‘, which lead me to a Stop-Motion website, ‘iPad Art Room‘, where I watched an amazing Stop-motion animation created by ‘Nepia’, they used tissues to create there film, yes, TISSUES, amazing!

Though most of these animation styles are kept separate, there are some animations that bring these styles together to create beautiful effects within the film. Such as this breath taking short film ‘The Bear & The Hare’ by John Lewis. In this masterpiece they interacted 2D hand drawn animation with Stop-Motion animation, on a 3D model made set, crazy I know but the end result is amazing, check out how they made it here, Creating ‘The Bear & The Hare’.

People often ask us…”what are the stages we’d go through in working with you? Pretty simple really, here are the steps we would take each client and project through.

1. Meeting / concept / requirements / estimate
Before the start of the project, there is the idea. It might be a customer’s idea or the product owner’s idea. The idea is then transformed into requirements and estimation in time, money and other resources is provided based on the requirements.

2. Signed contract or signed project brief/initiation document
If the client signs off on the quote we would have a ‘job booking form’ signed.

3. “Kickoff” meeting
The kickoff meeting (with all project team members) is not only to introduce the team members that will be working on the project to the client, The Producer / Director would also organise to have a prepared project plan ready for discussion and approval by the other team members. Everybody in the team will know “what” and “when” each aspect of the project should happen and also “who” is responsible for every specific task.

4. Detailed requirements and specifications
The Producer / Director and client should sit together and go through the requirements and get into details to clarify any queries.

5. Pre-production
The Producer / Director would continue to be the key point of contact between the client, and creative team. The Producer / Director would keep the client informed with details of location booking, talent options, date claiming, storyboard and script drafts and revisions and so on.

6. Production
The Producer / Director would continue to be the key point of contact between the client, and creative team. On location or on set, the Producer / Director would guide the production and communicate with the client about how the production is going, what has been done and what remains to be done. At this stage the client may also have some interaction with other members of the creative team as necessary – including the Cinematographer, Grip / Gaffer and Sound Recordist.

7. Post-production
The Producer / Director would continue to be the key point of contact between the client, and creative team. The Producer / Director may provide the client with video “rushes” (uncut footage). They would work with the Editor to provide rough cuts of productions as they develop, seeking and implementing client feedback along the way. The Producer / Director would work with the motion designer/s in creation of high end supporting motion graphic elements and animation. The Producer / Director would provide drafts of these elements and seek approvals and / or revisions from the client.

8. Final revisions and polishing
This is the stage where we would involve the client in a deeper way to ensure they/he/she is satisfied with the results. Any issues and change requests would be handled by the Producer / Director and relevant creative team members.

9. Project delivery
When you manage large digital/web projects it is important to allocate enough time and resources for the “going live” stage. Sometimes you need to ensure the hardware is going to stably sustain the traffic and the load and work closely with the system administrators too. It is always good to have a demo meeting in the end of every project, where the project manager, the product owner and/or the team members present the project’s features.

10. Feedback / Outcome meeting
Once the production is finished, has been delivered and implemented, where possible we request and outcome evaluation meeting. This is a chance for the Producer / Director, Creative team and Client to review what was planned at the outset, and evaluate the level to which achieved planned and intended outcomes. The client has an opportunity to make comment or recommendations for future productions, and as a team the performance of each team member may be evaluated.

If you’d like to know more, get in touch! We’d love to chat about your next video production project.

]]>
explainer-videoMaking a sales pitch is not a walk in the park. The experts on matters communication will tell you that on average you have basically got some three or so minutes to make a lasting impression on any individual. The static gets worse – You will need at least eight consecutive meetings to reverse any negative impression that you might have created in the mind of a person who got the wrong image of you.

In business this is a calamity – a calamity for the simple reason that once you blow a chance- you can take this to the bank – no individual will give you eight more chance encounters to reverse their negative opinion. The suave businessman knows that he has to check against any such incidences.

This article will give you one way via which you can leverage the use of technology and consequently improve your standing before your potential clients. The focus of this article will be on explainer videos. What is an explainer video, you might ask, read on. Explainer videos are basically videos (sic) that on average should run for about a minute or two and are used to explain a product to some target audience. While it is not the rule of thumb, most explainer videos are animated and the video is normally laced with fun and humor. The conservative reader might find it bad taste, to basically play an animation in an informal meeting but there are a number of advantages that come with electing to play an explainer video, these are listed below.

Advantages of using explainer videos

 • Theme– The beauty of using an explainer video is that the punch line of your message or its main point is arrived at within the first or second minute of the video running. This is important because unlike traditional methods of delivering messages – bound reports or the verbal route- you get to the climax in seconds which ensures that you audience is not distracted in between the delivery and the punch line;
 • Commitment – A well made explainer video can get an audience to commit to a cause much faster than any other route out there. While the numbers are not yet in it has been estimated that the conversion rates that come when using explainer videos are high as compared to the other traditional routes. As any sales man out there knows the most important job in delivering a sales pitch is getting a commitment – the explainer video makes this job easier;
 • Versatility – The beauty of using explainer videos is that they are versatile. This is in the sense that the video formats that can be used can be broadcast on other platforms such as the internet and because of the vastness of the scope of coverage you can be guaranteed that you can reach a wider market than any sales team would using the traditional methods available.

Explainer videos have become something of a fad –search any search engine for a tag such as explainer videos Australia or explainer videos Brisbane- every business entity seems to think that they are the latest marketing tool in the market. Unfortunately it is this sort of thinking that basically ensures that many of such entities miss out on the leverage that could be drawn from well thought out explainer videos. To ensure that you do not fall short as you attempt to pitch a sale with an explainer video ensure that you observe the following rules whilst making an explainer video:

 • Foremost focus on the content of the video, not the novelty of running a video – people are no longer fascinated by explainer videos merely running messages; the message is king;
 • Second have a sole message that addresses the subject of discussion– the subject could be a peeve clients have with an organization or even an agenda that you want to pitch;
 • Thirdly get somebody to write the script – a professional entity will ensure that the script is no longer than three minutes and answer a number of questions –theme, solution(s),sign up etc;
 • Fourthly get somebody to do a voice over and create a video; it goes without saying that this is a professional job best done by an explainer video production entity.

The last step of all this would be to run your video. In all this remember substance triumphs over form –ensure that you explainer videos do justice to your course, all the best.

Brisbane Video Production Process

An adept and proficient video production Brisbane based company is always capable of producing high quality and professional projects. Many of their clients happen to have no knowledge of video production, so they make sure that they offer rewarding and work-friendly experience. A boutique professional video production Brisbane based company happens to have quite a “hands on” team for every project. Elements of video production are never outsourced by them, so their clients are able to hold them personally accountable for their finished video, from concept to completion.

CONCEPT & SCRIPT

During the initial stage of production, a script is created by a professional Brisbane video production company that serves as the foundation for the forthcoming project. Whether for a commercial or a training video, this may be a one page script or a thirty page script. For this reason, a script meeting is arranged with the client so that the concept that needs to be achieved can be understood. This involves very careful listening. By planning carefully at this stage, a professional Brisbane video production company is able to make sure that no unwelcome surprises pop up by the time the project comes to an end. After writing a first script draft, they ask for their client’s feedback. The script is then fine tuned and preparation for filming begins.
The process of graphic preparation happens to be very “creative,” so upon the completion of the script, work on graphics is started. Complex concepts, events or services can be described in a powerful manner with the help of animated graphics. By looking closely at any existing artwork that may be in place, a professional Brisbane video production company is able to make sure that all the prepared graphics match the image that needs to be presented through the video.

FILMING

After finalizing the script, a professional Brisbane Video Production company proceeds to the filming stage. However, since they cater to diverse clients, so filming could be a day on a factory floor using the client’s own people or a more complicated shoot involving catering, makeup and talent.
Their camera team is headed by an expert and professional cameraman. So, when it comes to filming stylish footage, they happen to have a very personal stake. A professional Brisbane video production company possesses years of corporate filming experience and understand how to put a complete project together. So, they make sure that angles, critical detail, framing, lighting and movement are captured professionally. This way, they end up with precisely what is needed when they are ready to edit the video.
The team of a professional Brisbane video production company also happens to be very capable of taking advantage of any other opportunities seen while on the shoot. This means that they end up with more footage than is needed for the finished cut in a majority of their projects. A professional video production Brisbane based company specifically keeps this additional footage for their client in their catalogue so that the video could be freshened up using that footage at a later date or to cut a cinema ad or TV commercial.

POST PRODUCTION

Upon completing the filming of the video, a Brisbane video production company then enters post production, which is the final stage of the video production process. During this stage, their experienced editors work in their editing suites. There the footage recorded from the shoot is complemented and enhanced with motion graphics, music, sound and visual effects, as a result of which the final polished presentation is successfully created.
In this stage, the professional Brisbane video production company values the involvement of their client in the post production. Regular progress updates are sent to the client and the client is even welcomed to sit in during the polishing and refinement of the video.

COMPLETION

Finally, the exciting journey that the best Brisbane video production company embarks on comes to an end. From concept to completion, ultimately the video is ready to be seen.
Professional video production Brisbane based companies tend to have years of experience in producing corporate videos and television commercials. If required, HD and web-optimized versions of the completed video are also supplied by them, which are ready to be streamed on YouTube, on a website or be embedded into a customized software.

Conclusion

The most successful Brisbane video production companies are always proud of their comprehensive planning and specialized execution in their video productions. Whether for an advertisement, corporate video, multimedia presentation or sales support material, they create video productions specific to their client’s needs with determination. Hence, once a great Brisbane video production company has been chosen, high quality of dedication, professionalism and quality are guaranteed.

VideographyA Mix Of Science And Art

Videography as it’s the most simplified form means the recording or capturing of images whether moving or static. Though the term simply indicates only recording or capturing, the function actually has some post production stage tasks like enhancing the video quality, intensifying the graphic details, syncing etc. Digital cameras, mobile phone cameras and video recorders are devices in wider use in the process. For some it is an art form while for others it is professional excellence. Therefore videography is a skill that brings out the videographer’s inborn genius and creativity together.

How To Be A Videographer?

To be the videographer you need high quality and high definition video cameras with the most modification options. Being a videographer starts with you in below ways:

 • Check out to buy a camera that offers ease of use, contemporary technology with diverse operating features and options.
 • Keep eyes open always everywhere, you can get a subject any time. Anything that excites or attracts keep recording them all. Grow up with the habit.
 • Do some experimental recording to get understanding on the videography basics like indoor or outdoor setting, use of light, adjustment of focus, ambience etc. See the coloring difference, noise level and sound output.
 • Keep recording whenever and wherever possible to learn the frame senses and angles. On editing panel at post production identify why to cut what on when and where.

What To Consider In Hiring A Videographer?

Alternative of being a videographer is to hire him for your event. But whenever you are to hire a videography service you must consider below aspects to select the right one. This also works the same as what your clients will expect from you before hiring you for the service:

 • Always get a local videographer to save on time and money. Check which service provider is highly reputed in the community or who has the longest history of recording your event type. Review qualities of work samples.
 • Settle with the charges or look for packages, make a comparison and finalize a deal well before the event day. A common trick is to hire the person for main event of the day instead of the full date.
 • Make sure you have ensured enough support for the videographer to work like work space in the venue, power sources, multiplugs etc. Though a good service provider will have his own arrangement but it is no crime to have options available to save the videography.
 • Finalize the delivery details like form, format, number of copies, etc before recording.
 • Never wait to hire a person on last minute, you will ruin up everything. So follow above mentioned aspects carefully.

Respect The Top Secret Codes

Let us make this article a standalone resource for everyone check out the crack in top secret codes of videography here:

 • Don’t keep your camera moving, or zooming in & out or panning left or right with actions! Use stands to get along with the canvas!
 • Follow the rule, take wider shot, then medium then to close ups or the vice versa. Every frame must get some notable duration for every angle.
 • Backgrounds rarely help, have instantaneous back up plans.
 • Time lapse and light are crucial factor to budget your recording. Know if your story demands time lapse or not.
 • Always look for actions to record them. Never forget that framing can improvise your output.
 • Microphones must work, noises must be minimized.
 • Close ups are close ups, none zoom them in.
 • Overshooting is stressful but preparing for overshooting is smartness.

Videography stands as a good skill to run a successful business. Once you learn and master the skills you can decide to open a business and market your service. Ensure availability of cameras, recorders of different capacities and functionalities with extra battery and lighting instruments by buying them. Make a local events calendar, design your brochure and keep tapping them regularly. Explore your competitors marketing strategy, if you can learn from them, there is no harm.

Last Words

Lastly, videography has many aspects in its darkroom that in post production editing phase! These are mostly software tool based. And they are easier to learn and apply than developing an inner urge of being the videographer. Try harder; everyone keeps improving everyday in some ways!

Video EditingVideo editing is the process of editing video segments and sound recordings during the post production process. The process normally uses video editing software which has the ability to convert the imported videos into other formats. The software shows great quality in their work as well as editing the video with great flexibility.

Types of video editing

There are various types of video editing. Each of the methods has some benefits and limitations. Even though most of the editors prefer non linear digital editing, it is important to have a full understanding of the workings of each method before choosing the best one. The following are the types which are mostly used in the current world:

Computer/ digital video editing

This is one of the types of video editing whereby the information is recorded or captured onto a computer hard drive. After that, the recordings are edited by use of specialized software. When the editing is completed, the finished product is recorded back to the optical disk or tape.

Benefits of video editing

There are many benefits of video editing. Video editing is a fun and exciting experience. One of the major benefits of currently using the video editing is the use of all the available technology. This is because the computers have taken the gap between the people’s ideas and the closed reality. Most of the movie makers normally shoot their videos without worries since they know that the video editing capabilities are available. In addition to that, professional film makers transfer their films to computers so as to be edited by the video editing software.

Another significance of video editing is that, it is able to improve and enhance light and sound issues. Color correction is also an odd choice which the automatic video settings of a digital video camera can make the images look more natural.

Video editing software

With the technological; advancement, video editing software is used for editing videos. Some of the various types of video editing software include:

Pinnacle systems(pinnacle studio)

Pinnacle system is a software which comes with a lot of features which is pleasing to the video editing artists. The features of the video editing software include: H-24 format video and editing AVCHD. The above elements allow the creation of very easy red giant offers and animated titles.

Adobe (premier pro)

This is the non linear editing software which is available for window users and 64 bit Mac. In addition to that, the software is the best. If a person has thousands of software, he or she should use adobe software since it is suitable.

Sony creative software( Vegas pro)

This is a software which is published originally by the sonic foundry. The video editing tool is suitable for people who are seeking powerful NLE. Vegas pro have been used for editing of many television shows. On the other hand, the software has been also applicable in music videos. The Vegas pro has been constantly updated every year so as to meet the demand of the users.

Apple( apple imovie)

Apple may be bundled for free only that it depends on the Mac product you have. One of the examples is the movie maker which is a simple approach to the video editing. What is even more pleasing is the fact that the software is not only used by desktops and computers but can also be usedon the iphone, ipod touch and ipad2. It will only cost 5 dollars for handhelds. This shows that the price is relatively cheap as compared to other software.

Magix(movie edit pro)

The software is common in USA. However, the software is best selling in Europe. The reason why the software is mostly used is that it has highest quality as well as being relatively cheap since it is less than 100 dollars.

Linear (tape to tape) video editing

This was the original method which was use for editing electronic video tapes before computer editing was available. However, it is not mostly preferred but it is used in some instances.

Film splicing

This is a method which forms the basis video editing. First, the film is edited by cutting of sections of the film and rearranging them while others are discarded. The process is mechanical and very straightforward. Alternatively, you can use a splicing machine which allows film footage to be lined up and held in the right place when it is spliced together.

Conclusion

The information highlighted above is all about video editing. This indicates how important it is in the current video technology.

screenplay pt2The famous and the best drama writer of all time is ,without any doubt, William Shakespeare. Besides, He is a poet and actor, too. That English bard, during his relatively short life ( 1564 – 1616 ), left 38 plays after him, two very long narrative poems, 154 sonnets and a couple of other verses. It is possible to read his work in all major living languages. Richard III, Titus Andronicus, Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Othelo, King Lear, Lady Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra, A Midsummer Night’s Dream are just a bit of work of the greatest writer in English language ever born. That unforgettable scene when Richard III finds himself on his feet, in the middle of the battle. His horse is killed. Without another one, He is going to be killed, too.
” A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!”
Or that great speech of Mark Antony, from his drama Julius Caesar. Caesar has been murdered. Brutus and the conspirants allowed Mark Antony to make a speech on Caesar’s funeral.
Antony :”

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;

I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.

The evil that men do lives after them;

The good is oft interred with their bones;

So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus

Hath told you, Caesar was ambitious;

If it were so, it was a grievous fault,

And grievously hath Caesar answer’d it.

Here under leave of Brutus and the rest –

For Brutus is an honourable men – –

Come I to speak in Caesar’s funeral.

He was my friend, faithful l and just to me:

But Brutus says he was ambitious;

And Brutus is an honourable man…”

Now, We are going to remind you about some classical movie dialogues.

“My Man Godfrey” produced 1936, directed by Gregory La Cava, based on a short novel by Eric Hatch, ” 1011 Fifth “, starring William Powell and Carol Lombard.

( at the city dump )
Irene ( Carol Lombard ) : Could you tell me why you live in a place like this when there’s so many other nice places?
Godfrey ( William Powell ) : You really want to know?
Irene : Oh, I’m very curious.
Godfrey :It’s because my real estate agent felt that the altitude would be very good for my asthma…
– – – – – – – –
Godfrey : Do you think you could follow an intelligent conversation for a minute?
Irene : I’ll try…

Screenplay and its ComponentsIn order to understand the whole Video Production better, we first have to discuss various components.

Now and there, We are going to talk about screenplay and its components. The screenplay is a written work made for some movie, video spot or television program. An Artist which writes that kind of work is a so called screenwriter.
When we talk about screenplay, We are actually talking about some original piece of work, never seen before, or about some adaptation from already existing pieces of writing ( some novel, drama etc. ).

No matter which way made, each screenplay contains the movement action, dialogues and expression of the characters. The screenplay for one movie, for example, numbering at least 80 pages of written work, is formatted and structured in that way that each page of written work equates approximately to one minute of screen time.

The screenplay major components are action and dialogue. This time We are going to talk mostly about dialogue.
The dialogue is a literary form consisting of conversational exchange between two or more people. In our case, the dialogue in screenplay is absolutely the same literary form, but written down to be spoken out. We have to mention one not so typical, but very old and important work from ancient Greece.

Plato is one of the greatest philosophers of ancient time. He was living in the 5th and 4th century B.C. His teacher is the famous Socrates. As an extremely honest Man, He was teaching his students not what to think, but how to do it – what is the way to find the truth, if there is a truth at all…In that time, the Great Solon was for a long time dead and some limited people forced Socrates to drink out some poison and finish his life that way. His wife’s name was Xanthippe. Beside that kind of woman, everybody would do the same with a pleasure.

Plato’s works about Socrates are in form of dialogues. We shall remember ourselves about a couple of segments of that one with Crittias, and another pupil of Socrates.

Socrates:”…And now, friend Crittias, I will announce to You the judgment of the theatre. They are of opinion that the last performer was wonderfully successful , and that You will need a great deal of indulgence before You will be able to take his place.”

Crittias:”…Let me begin by observing first of all, that nine thousand was the sum of the years which had elapsed since the war which was said to have taken place between those who dwelt outside the Pillars of Heracles and all who dwelt within them – this war I am going to describe. Of the combatants on the one side, the city of Athens was reported to have been the leader and to have fought out the war. Combatants on the other side were commanded by the king of Atlantis which, as was saying, was an island greater in extent than Libya and Asia, and when afterwards sunk by an earthquake, become an impassable barrier of mud to voyagers sailing from hence to any part of the ocean…”

From another side, a monologue is a literary form presented through a single character, usually used to express their mental thoughts and feelings aloud, or their speech to some third person( or group of them ) which is temporary absent from the scene, in a physical or psychical way. For example, the very famous monologue is that one from William Shakespeare’s drama ” Hamlet “, when king Claudius and Polonius observe Prince of Denmark behind an arras.

Hamlet:

“To be or not to be – that is the question :
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them…”

The Shakespearean Theater is one of the most beautiful and most attractive phenomenon that ever appeared in the very long and wealthy History of Art. Always keeping a very high grade of qualities, those very great Artists are holding for a long time that Column Shakespeareana, in its waste magic , on a place generally important for the whole Mankind.

There is a story related to a monumental work of William Shakespeare. According to some people, that Giant’s life intention is to guide us, little men, through that magnificent work, how the Elysian Fields actually look like, that Fortunate Island whose only rule is the love for Art, where the Heroes even when they die, die only that performing night. The next morning they are ready to die for us again and again…

So much for this time! In the future, We shall continue to talk about the best dialogues ever heard , artists, movies and plays related to them. Stay tuned for SCREENPLAY AND IT’S COMPONENTS ( Part two ) | Video Production .
